Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi gets staff of office

The cradle of Yoruba, Ile Ife was agog on the day Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi was presented with the staff of office by the Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Monday 7th December 2015 at Enuwa Square, Ile-Ife. The event was graced by several dignitaries from all walks of life including the vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo. Former Governor of Lagos State and the stalwart of the ruling Party, All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Hammed Bola Tinubu, Former chairman of APC and former Governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande.  Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II) from Giesi Royal Family is the 51st Ooni of Ife who was exhilaratingly announced after his predecessor, Oba Okunade Sijuade joined his ancestors on July 28, 2015.

Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo admonished the Imperial Majesty to work toward the unity of the Yoruba race and Nigeria as a whole. According to No 2 citizen of Nigeria, “The throne of Ooni, being a deep and revered institution among the Yoruba people, carries the responsibility of the race”. While presenting the certificate of office, the Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in his own words charged the monarch “as long as throne of Ooni comes with lots of privileges, endeavour to handle the responsibilities attach to the throne with fear of God and large heartedness”. He further charged the Ojaja II to draw on the wisdom of the people by listening to them and advised him against pursuing naked personal interest at the expense of the larger interests of his subjects”
